It was a busy holiday season for the staff at Kindred Hospital Seattle! In the months of November and December, we held our annual food drive to support the Northwest Harvest Food Bank. Food from Northwest Harvest gets distributed to hungry families all across the Greater Puget Sound region. The majority of people utilizing Northwest Harvest are also our most vulnerable neighbors: senior citizens and children. Our staff donated two large boxes FULL of non-perishable food items (almost 400 pounds) to this worthy cause! The Activities Committee also organized a Toys for Tots holiday toy drive. The regional shortage of toys in the Christmas toys for Tots program left the High Point Community Center in West Seattle without any gifts for the children there. Usually they are given 400 toys from the Toys for Tots Program, but this year they were told that they were not on the distribution list and would not be receiving any toys! The community center issued a public call for donations and the Activities Committee decided to distribute all the toys we collected to the High Point Community Center. We donated 26+ items to the center and made a small dent in their toy deficit!
